Happy 4th of July, Chicago!!!!

I know I'm a couple of days early, but we all know the weekend really starts on Friday - wink-wink, nudge, nudge - and this weekend's White Sox-Cubs series at Wrigley could be classic. It already means something to both teams' positions in the standings. This is always a good beginning.

Man, the White Sox and Cubs both did a nice job of setting up the Crosstown Classic, pt. 2, 4th of July, Wrigley Field, Sunday Night, ESPN, primetime. Yup!

As some old school boxer might say, "They are both contendas', baby, contendas'!"

The White Sox sweep the archrival Twins in the Metrodome, the Cubs win a series with the sure-to-be-surging Astros on a tenth inning solo job by the suddenly rejuvenated Sammy Sosa, and Fourth of July night is suddenly looking wonderful in the Windy city.

Lights. Camera. Action. Let the fireworks begin.
