Wainright is on the Board

Score a nice little coup for DePaul. This will ease the worries of anyone worried about new coach Jerry Wainright's ability to recruit. Bolingbrook's Will Walker is a nice signing and considered alongside Crane's Sherron Collins and the Duke-loving Jon Scheyer as the best seniors in Illinois.

You gotta give some credit to Wainright here because he's selling something. I don't know what it is, but it's working. If Walker was looking to stay near home, he could have chosen the national runner-up Illini just down the road. But he didn't. If Wainright, a Chicago native himself, keeps plucking the best Chicagoland kids, well, his job is going to be a whole lot easier.

Meanwhile, Bruce Weber must be smelling himself, wondering what he's gotta do to land the local gems.

Oh, and Collins is quite the football player, too. Nice read.

If you are not a fan of SI's Peter King, repeat not, then this is a must read. One of the funniest things I've read in a while.

The Unknown Column is all about giving props where props are due. Sooooo...Curt Schilling is doing a nice thing in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. There I said it. I still don't like him.

Never let it be said that the Unknown Column isn't fair.
