Thursday's College Action

"I can't help it if I'm very, very sensitive."

Wisconsin at Michigan State. The new Sports Illustrated has a rundown of the major conferences in which players vote for a bunch of different categories. In the Big Ten, Paul Davis was voted Biggest Crybaby and Most Overrated. So, so true. Spartans have lost 4 of 5 and continue to boggle the mind.

Washington State at Arizona. Cats have won four of five and may reach 22nd consecutive tourney after all. The committee should make Arizona-Kentucky an 8 vs 9 matchup just for the hell of it. Dick Bennett retiring after the season. He should have never left the state of Wisconsin.

Washington at Arizona State. Huskies have won six in a row and are probably the best team in the state. Sorry, Gonzaga.

Syracuse at DePaul. The Blue Demons renaissance has begun. They've won 2 of 3 and, if they win this, own some tiebreakers for that important 12th spot in the Big East tourney, which they will win if they make it. Yeah, you heard me right. Syracuse fighting to stay at .500 in league play and close with Villanova. DePaul could be major spoiler here.

Memphis at UAB. The class of C-USA. I'd expect UAB to compete on their homecourt as Memphis has been coasting. I love me some Mike Anderson. A win here would probably lock down a tourney spot for the Blazers. Take the over.

Illinois State at Evansville. Not a big game, but it does kick off the MVC tourney, which should be very entertaining as far as teams needing wins to earn tourney berths. Wichita State, Missouri State, Southern Illinois, Creighton, Northern Iowa and Bradley all have tourney aspirations. Should be some tight games.

UCLA at Cal. UCLA trying to win first Pac 10 title since '97. Cal trails by a game with two to play.

Tonight's likes...

Arizona (-12.5) over Washington State.

Mavericks (+5) at San Antonio.

March record: 1-2
