National Team Update

So the World Cup roster has been announced and looks likes this:

Kasey Keller (Borussia Moenchengladbach), Marcus Hahnemann (Reading) and Tim Howard (Manchester United)

Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Eddie Pope (Real Salt Lake), Oguchi Onyewu (Standard Liege), Eddie Lewis (Leeds United), Frankie Hejduk (Columbus), Carlos Bocanegra (Fulham), Cory Gibbs (ADO Den Haag) and Jimmy Conrad (Kansas City)

Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy), Claudio Reyna (Manchester City), John O’Brien (Chivas USA), DaMarcus Beasley (PSV Eindhoven), Clint Dempsey (New England), Bobby Convey (Reading), Pablo Mastroeni (Colorado) and Ben Olsen (D.C. United)

Brian McBride (Fulham), Eddie Johnson (Kansas City), Brian Ching (Houston), and Josh Wolff (Kansas City)

I could have done without Olsen and Ching (where's Taylor Twellman?), and I most definitely could have done without Hejduk. But maybe that's just me.

Olsen's battled back from a ton of injuries and he did well by scoring in a couple of friendlies. I can see where people might not want him on as he did not play in any of the qualifying games and I understand that. He's having a great season thus far for United. It also helps he played for Bruce at UVA and for one season at DC United. He deserved the slot in my opinion.

Ching I'm not so sure on. He's coasting on his huge opening game for the Dynamo. I would have personally picked Twellman but that could be the Terrapin bias in me ;)

I'm fine with every other selection. I would rank the US goalkeeping as best in the World Cup.

They are in a tough group though.
