The Sad Saga Continues

Yup, the most depressing story to hit Chicago in years has written yet another chilling chapter. (Though many White Sox fans, I suspect, probably find it hysterical.)

Mark Prior has been - surprise, surprise! - placed on the disabled list and is possibly done for the year. In other words, if he pitches again this season, then look for Jay Mariotti to embrace Ozzie Guillen in the Sox clubhouse.

The sad, sorry saga of Mark Prior and Kerry Wood is so unreal that, had you made it up, I don't think anyone would believe you. Nobody gets injured this much, right? Right? At this point, I think the only humane thing to do would be to take Prior and Wood out behind Wrigley Field and put them down. No poor creature should have to go through such suffering.

Sad how cursed this franchise is. In '69 they gagged to the Mets, in '84 the Padres came back and got to the World Series. '89 and '98 playoff collapses and then there is 2003, thr cruelest one of all. I blame Bernie Mac for that one though. He's the one who sang "...root, root, root for the champions" during the 7th inning stretch when the Cubs were up in game 6.

As for Prior and Wood, the Cubs need to deal these guys and get something. This is unreal how these two are cursed. Of course if the Cubs deal these two, they will suddenly get and stay healthy and win twenty games each.

Yes, I fully expect both to win Cy Youngs with other teams.
